Mr Henry Colaço
Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, Mr Henry Colaço specialises in sports and reconstructive shoulder and elbow surgery, as well as complex upper limb trauma (including hand and wrist surgery). He has extensive experience of treating high-profile actors, musicians, stunt performers, and professional and amateur athletes from international rugby players to UFC fighters.
He takes a patient-centred approach to care, tailoring his treatments (both surgical and non-surgical) to each individual. Where surgery is required, he uses cutting-edge procedures and uses minimally invasive techniques wherever possible to obtain the best outcomes and a faster recovery time.
He has particular interests in reconstructive arthroscopic keyhole surgical procedures for the treatment of shoulder instability, biological augmentation for rotator cuff repairs, and 3D planning for joint replacement surgery.
Mr Colaço completed his surgical and orthopaedic training in London after graduating with distinction from Imperial College School of Medicine. He completed two fellowships in shoulder and elbow surgery and complex upper limb surgery in London, and was awarded the prestigious Travelling Fellowship from the British Elbow & Shoulder Society (BESS), which he completed in Paris and Lyon in France. He has served a term as the Clinical Lead for Upper Limb Surgery at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and is the current lead for Sustainable Surgery and programme director of the Hampshire Shoulder & Elbow Fellowship.
He enjoyed 9 years at The Shoulder Practice and 12 years convening The London Shoulder Meeting before creating LONDON SHOULDER. He is widely published, teaches at national and international conferences and is actively involved in clinical research and the use of simulation to train junior surgeons.
